Afterschool

Junior Achievement (JA) uses engaging activities and experience to help young people understand the economics of life. In partnership with businesses and educators, JA brings the real world to students, opens their minds to their potential.

Purpose of the JA Afterschool Initiative-

The JA Afterschool Initiative is dedicated to

meeting the need for hands-on, quality educational experiences for K-12 students beyond traditional classroom hours. JA programs delivered by a volunteer in an after-school setting are designed to create academically enriching experiences for young people.

Need-

Many youth-oriented organizations

have rallied behind the belief that after-school programs are critical to children and their families, and the need for such programs is not adequately addressed. Currently, Junior Achievement is identifying how to reach out to children in the current after-school timeframe. We are collaborating with many national and local organizations, including the YMCA, Girls Inc, and California Community Partners for Youth
